EXPERIENCE

Curatorial

1970 – Present.  Have curated over 100 exhibitions of ceramics, paintings, photography, works on paper, sculpture, American Indian, and Himalayan art in New York City, Kansas City and other cities in the U.S.  Exhibits reviewed in “The New York Times,” “Artforum,” “ArtNews,” “Art in America,” “Arts,” “Kansas City Star,” and other publications. 

1985 – 1995.  As Director of Exhibitions and Collections for the international company Continental Insurance Corporation in New York City, selected and purchased over 2,000 artworks – contemporary ceramics, paintings, sculpture,  photography, works on paper, and American Indian art - for their international headquarters in NYC, and regional buildings in New Jersey, California, Virginia, and Texas. Also developed docent training programs and collaborated with the International Center of Photography and other museums. Worked with a multi-million dollar budget and oversaw numerous staff positions.

1997 – 98. As Administrator for the International Residency Program for the United States Information Service (U.S. State Dept.), arranged for artist residencies for international artists throughout the United States, working with all U.S. embassies around the world. 

Acquired thousands of dollars of matching grants.

Writing

Have written articles and reviews for “Art in America,” “American Craft,” “Ceramics Monthly,” “art ltd.,” “Surface Design,” “Fiber Arts,” and other art periodicals, and over 300 articles and art reviews as a contributing reviewer for the “Kansas City Star” and “KC Studio Magazine”

 Have written over 15 museum, university gallery and contemporary art gallery catalogs
